This research aims to determine how the practice of environmental communication in Nehas Liah Bing Village in the perspective of Kenneth Burke's dramatism in the management of protected forest Wehea, Keldung Laas Wehea Long Skung Metguen in Nehas Liah Bing Village, East Kutai, East Kalimantan. This study aims to explore human relations in symbolic actions by using the theory of dramatism used in the study of environmental communication, to pay attention to the sources, limitations, and paradoxes of the use of symbols, especially about motives in the act of communication. This research was conducted using the ethnographic communication method. Data was collected using observation, in-depth interviews, and content analysis of archival, textual, or visual data obtained from field research; then, the data were analyzed using Kenneth Burke's Pentad analysis. We conclude that there are three agents involved in the journey of Wehea's protected forest, starting from the efforts to inaugurate the former Gruti III HPH (Forest Concession Right) area into a protected forest to the current protected forest management process, namely the Wehea Dayak community, represented by the Wehea Customary Institution, Nehas Liah Bing Village, Non-Governmental Organization, and the Government of East Kutai Regency. Each agent has different motives and interests in Wehea's protected forest. The results of this study show that with different motives and interests, they can collaborate in efforts to save the environment in the Nehas Liah Bing Village area.
