The purpose of this study is to describe how the form of local independence through characteristics: having self capacity; collective responsibility; and the ability to think. The research design employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Based on the results of the research conducted, several activities that can increase the capacity of the community from the hallway in Makassar City are: motivation to increase self-capacity; basic skills training for the aisle community; forming a hallway business entity; women's aisle industry program; and partnerships between entrepreneurs and SMEs. Some of the activities that can increase the collective responsibility of the aisle community in Makassar City are: participating in house and environmental hygiene maintenance activities; participating in environmental security maintenance activities; taking part in religious activities; and participating in economic business group activities. Meanwhile, some activities that can improve the ability to think and act sustainably in the aisle community in Makassar are: expressing suggestions/opinions; community participation in the decision making process/formulation; provide advice on the course of development; and give an assessment and submit it as an evaluation material.
